Faith Heals

In January Nathan and I were officially accepted to work with YWAM, and it was around this time we began noticing the first signs of Rosyn’s seizures. Over the next months the seizures came and went and so it wasn't until May when they had increased in frequency that we saw our doctor. On May 31st she had her first EEG, and since has had another EEG, an appointment with a pediatric neurologist, and been started on the anti seizure drug Clobazam.  Rosyn appears to be having two different types of seizures, one type is known as an absence seizure and the other is unknown. So she is currently scheduled for an MRI on August 12th at the Calgary Children’s Hospital to thoroughly investigate the second type. She will then follow up with her new neurologist in Vancouver on August 20th.  To date we have not witnessed any seizures since shortly before she started medication and we are so thankful to Jesus for this. Although because her EEG’s have shown she has ongoing seizures while sleeping, Rosyn will have another at home EEG for 48 hours next week to ensure the medication has taken affect during her sleeping hours as well.

Shortly after my doctor shared the news that Rosyn’s seizure case was more urgent than first perceived, I was asked a question by a good friend, “do you believe God could love you this much that he would use this situation to show you His love? Do you believe God would use your own child to show you how much he loves you?” My response was pensive and uncertain as she proceeded to say, “Do you believe that God would use this situation to draw you deeper into Him through praying for your child?”

These question could not have been more apt in a time where all I could ask was, why now God?  I was so thankful God used these questions to clearly speak to me. Entering into this journey of full time ministry God knows He must equip Nathan and I to trust Him with everything in our lives, even the very little ones we hold closest. God wants to strengthen us more than ever, to draw us closer to Him, so that He may reveal himself more deeply to us, and through this we may see his steadfast love and provision in everything.  As I learn to become more prayerful for Rosyn, God has revealed Himself more already, and not only beckoned me to intercede with great intent for my sweet child but to pray
without ceasing as the Spirit leads.

Every day we pray in a mighty way for the healing of our sweet Rosyn and not so coincidentally twice this last week I have encountered the story of how Jesus heals the bleeding woman.

Mark 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

I shared this story with my mom and we discussed what a gift it is to read the words, that it was the woman’s faith which healed her, as she reached out in response to her faith to touch the cloak of Jesus. And so in faith I believe God will heal Rosyn and in response I will live that out in prayer and love for Christ. I know His work in her little life will be used to bring Him alone glory. Angie Smith writes, “our Father has given us so many gifts, so many promises, and so many reasons to
remain steadfast as we wait”.

And so we continue to wait on Him. We are moving out of our Sylvan Lake house July 31st, and have yet to find a place to call home in Vancouver. Although it seems tiring to look for that which you cannot find, we’re certain God’s timing is perfect and we know He cares for the birds in the sky and cares that much more for these small details to fall into place.

Thank-you for all your prayers and commitment to journey with us!
